
| The college has evolved its coordinating mechanisms over its 62-year existence in conformity with guidelines of the State Government and the University of Mumbai
The phenomenal expansion of the college, in terms of student strength and new courses, has brought new responsibilities. The college has tried to shoulder these with the help of appropriate modifications and systems, and by infusion of new technology. The administrative office is now fully computerized, and the college constantly updates its hardware and software in order to streamline the system. The Managing Board consists of eminent individuals occupying leading positions in industry and society.
Professor N.W. Shivdasani has been a part of Jai Hind College for over 40 years. He occupied the post of the Prinicipal for 14 years till his retirement in 2004. He is passionate about his subject, Chemistry, and is remembered by generations of students as a great teacher. For several years he also functioned as the Head of Department of Chemistry. As a Prinicpal, Prof. Shivdasani infused the students of Jai Hind with a new enthusiasm. He not only promoted academic progress but also the overall development of the individual personality of the student. Jai Hind College owes its excellence to his untiring efforts over the past several decades. Shivy, as he is affectionately known, is truly someone the students of Jai Hind look up to for inspiration!!
The Indian Navy utilised his potentials by awarding him various roles including those as a Senior Training Officer and Directing Officer with the Indian Management School. His law degree was responsible for making him the Judge Advocate General of Indian Navy. In his last appointment, he served in the Naval Dockyard, Mumbai as General Manager (Personnel and Administration). Other responsibilities held by him included governing bodies of various related institute like Estate Officer of Defence Civilian Colony, Director and Legal Advisor of Naval Dockyard Cooperative Bank Ltd., etc. He has been awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal by the President of India in recognition of his services. After super-annuating as Commodore from the Indian Navy, Commodore Gidwani joined Jai Hind College as a Chief Administrator, on January, 2011. The Principal: Dr (Mrs) Kirti Narain Dr Narain has organized many academic seminars, and presented over 40 papers in national and international seminars and conferences. She has also published 3 books. |
