The
Department of Psychology under a cohesive, proactive team
of experienced faculty has achieved high academic excellence
at the college & university levels and ensured overall personality
development of the students. An interactive, creative, participative
and approachable environment in the department has resulted
in high motivation and satisfaction of students and staff.
A range of teaching and learning methods like class discussions,
updated syllabus, computer based practicals, role plays, paper
presentations by students and access to laboratory & reference
material have been applied to build in depth understanding
of psychological concepts. Going beyond the classroom, many
subjects of psychology are taught through exposure to applied
settings. The link between theory & practical applications
in Industrial Psychology is brought out through field based
projects in HRD departments. Counseling Projects carried out
in clinical settings where students work with special populations
like institutionalized elders, emotionally disturbed individuals
trying to get back to mainstream society through half way
homes brings out the relevance of psychology to everyday life.
The zeal and passion for the subject is manifested in the
use of intelligence & personality tests, quizzes, newsletter,
poster making competition. Students are encouraged to build
self-understanding through introspection and use of psychological
scales. These progressive and dynamic approaches help students
to acquire healthy and productive life skills and attain high
academic standards.
