The Department of Economics is one of the oldest Departments of the college and has come a long way since 1948.The Faculty members are actively involved in academics as well as cocurricular and extracurricular activities.The economics association which was established in 1998 encourages intensive research work and hosts seminars and other activities.The year 2006-07 witnessed a novelty in the college initiated by the department-the honours program in Economics. The students also won the Bliss point competition and came first at the national level.The alumni of the department today hold important positions in the corporate sector as well as the banking sector.

 
ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
 

Dr D.M. Harver, the head of the department has various articles published.Ms Anuradha Siddiqui is currently working on her Ph.D thesis.The department has been involved in various social awareness activities.The students have shown great enthusiasm in their interactions with the tribal villagers in vagachi wadi,a village near Neral.The department hopes to develop strong linkages with industry in the future.
