Department Information

The Department of Computer Science was founded in 1999, and has been part of the College since then. The Department offers the BSC degree in Computer Science, as well as a Computer Science Minor. It prides itself on achieving excellence at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Computer science has certainly become a core discipline -- a discipline of study in itself -- and one that continues to grow. However, a rather unique aspect of computer science is that it's not only a very broad discipline, but that it has exceptionally broad application to nearly every other discipline imaginable.

Academically the department has always had respected results through out the past Years Our student Siddhi Mehta stood Second in University of Mumbai in Computer science stream in the year March 2005. Three out of the top 10 academic achievers of TYBSc in 2005 were from the Computer Science department.

  1. Siddhi Mehta

  2. Bhagyashree Mayekar
  3. Meeta Prabhu

In 2006 also we had most of the students achieving First Classes and the topper from the department was Nehal Shah.

The Department is also Handling DOT COM CLUB where we organize the college chocolate day and also a Computer science Tech fest called as Cyber Strike. Both the events are heavily successful events.

Computer Science Computing Facilities

The Department of Computer Science has hundreds of PC/workstations running a variety of operating systems including Linux, Microsoft Windows and Solaris. Every room in the CS building is wired with multiple Category 5/5e UTP ports. Networking is supported by a high-speed core GBps switch .Typically, servers are connected via gigabit Ethernet and user PC/workstations are connected via switched 100 Mb/sec Ethernet.

The department supports remote users via the Internet, FTP and also VPN. The entire building including the ANNEX Building are covered by the department's network. The department infrastructure and users are protected by firewalls and e-mail virus/spam scanners.

Faculty, staff, and graduate student computer accounts in the Computer Science Department are not limited to a single machine. A user's files are available to all these machines through the use of NFS (Network File System) software, so it is unnecessary to move files from one computer to another to access them.

Lab III

The IIIrd lab is located on the First Floor of the Building and this is mainly used for Third Year BSC Students .This Lab is having 23 Sun ray Thin clients and 13 IBM Thin Clients. With Citrix platform.

Lab II

This lab is also there in the first floor and is mainly used for FYBSC & SYBSC Comp Science .This Lab is having the 18 IBM Desktops with multiple Softwares.

LABI

This Lab is mainly used for Junior College Computer Science Courses .This lab is having the facility of 12 IBM Think Center Desk tops
