Jai Hind College took a major initiative by starting a course which encourages students who have the aptitude and the interest in the fields of banking and insurance. BBI (Bachelors in Banking and Insurance) is a course which lends professionalism to the B.Com course. BBI was started by Jai Hind College in the academic year 2003-2004.

BBI is a full time course which comprises of 6 semesters i.e 3 years. The programme includes 38 subjects and 2 projects of 100 marks each at the Third year level related to the Banking and Insurance industry which are to be submitted in Semester V and Semester VI respectively.

The teaching methodology is very interactive as it involves class discussions, analysis of case studies, paper presentations and other similar methods that encourage communication and team work.

The course is very professionally and effectively conducted, with highly qualified academics and professionals from the industry conducting the classes. The assessment and evaluation is as follows: 60 marks theoretical exams and 40 marks internal assessment, which includes projects and presentations. The class strength being limited to 60 lends greater scope for interactive education. All students on the completion of their second semester have to undertake a 6-8 week internship. During the internship the students can get an insight into the corporate world, and also learn how to apply the theories learnt in class to actual practical situations.

Of all the four batches of students which have graduated, Jai Hind BBI have always achieved 100% results, of which more than 95% are distinctions and the rest being 1st classes, with several of them being University toppers & merit rank holders.

The department regularly conducts workshops and holds guest lectures by leading bankers and industry professionals. Such seminars and talks along with industrial visits for which the students are taken every year provide the students with an exposure to the actual working of the corporate sector.

The students are also given an opportunity to participate in several extra and co curricular activities both at the intra and inter college levels. They have won several trophies including the best college participation trophy at Inter Collegiate Competitions.
