The department started in the year 1980 and has always been staffed with practicing Chartered Accountants and finance consultants of repute specializing in diverse fields.

The following subjects are taught:
1) Financial Accouting
2) Cost Accounting
3) Management Accounting
4) Auditing
5) Direct and Indirect Taxation
6) Business Management (Accounts)

The teaching staff, all being Chartered Accountants are subjected to continued professional education programme of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. The continued education programme helps to update the knowledge and hence avoid obsolescence. The emphasis is on attending referesher courses on the latest Accounting standards and laws.

As an integral part of the Jai Hind College the faculty of the accounts department also gives lectures to B.M.S students for subjects like accounts, taxation and finance. Additionally B.A students are also taught the subject of Book Keeping.

Eminent professionals specializing in the field of taxation also give guest lectures to students on sales tax which is a part of TYBCom. curriculum and are very popular with the students.

Mr.Mayur Desai is convener of Taxation Committee of Bombay Chartered Accountants Society (BCAS) which has to its credit sale of about 45000 copies of Budget publication during the year 2006. Mr. Mayur Desai has also delivered lectures at the study courses of BCAS during the year 2006 on the subject of International Taxation
